About me

I enjoy writing, but whenever I come to a place where I’m supposed to write about myself, I instantly freeze. I don’t want to bore you with pointless information about myself, but I want to share enough to attract those who desire to connect with someone like myself. So I’ll press on past the writer’s block, and see where I land (I’ve already stopped twice while composing these three sentences – what did I tell you?!).

First and foremost, I describe myself as a Christ-follower. If you wouldn’t call yourself the same, I promise this isn’t a weird or scary thing, and I’m not trying to push my religion on anyone. It’s simply my number one desire in life – to love others as Jesus Christ loves me – unconditionally, just as I am. Beyond that, I am a wife of a talented man, a momma of two beautiful girls, a handsome and feisty little boy (with baby #4 on the way)…and obviously a photography fanatic, and I’m instantly distracted by anything orange…it doesn’t matter what it is, it catches my attention.

I’ve been asked before to describe my style of photography, and just like talking about myself, this is also a challenge for me. As cliche as this unfortunately sounds to say, I think the number one thing I look for when photographing anything is to catch moments between people. The homecomings of our soldiers are at the top of my list as to my favorite events to photograph. There is nothing like seeing a soldier return to his/her loved ones. And of course I love weddings because of the joyful chaos and all the little things happening everywhere I look. I enjoy photographing families as they are, and I’m most excited when I can catch a giddy exchange between loved ones. Even in doing corporate headshots for professionals, there is an exchange between that individual and myself, and I hope to be able to capture a bit of that person’s personality in the final images. That’s a goal for myself every time I pick up my camera.

If anything I’ve said resonates with you and you’re looking for a photographer to document a period of time in your life, please feel free to reach out to me! E-mail is easiest for me (with the busy-ness of two little girls running around, I can be hard to reach during daytime hours via phone). Visit my website and check out the contact page to get in touch with me quickly. And thank you so much for taking the time to read a bit about me – I hope I’ll have a chance to get to know you face-to-face!
